The Widget Builder Gets an AI Copilot
When we launched the Widget Builder, you got a live editor, instant preview, and full version history for building your own trading widgets. One thing was still on you: writing the code. As of today, it doesn't have to be. The Widget Builder now has a built-in AI assistant, sitting right next to the editor and the preview.
Describe It, Review It, Apply It
The AI chat panel lives inside the builder and understands the widget you are working on — not just the code, but its name, description, and settings too. Tell it what you want in plain English:
- "Build a widget that shows my top five positions by unrealized P&L"
- "Add a column for today's percentage change"
- "Make the table compact and color negative values red"
Instead of dumping code into the chat for you to copy and paste, the AI responds with a proposed change: a plain-language summary of what it wants to do, an itemized list of the changes, and a single Apply to draft button.
Nothing touches your widget until you click it. Review the proposal, apply it, and the editor and live preview update together. Don't like the result? Your revision history is still there, one click from any earlier version.
The Same Flow as the Skills Builder
If you have used the Skills Builder, this will feel familiar: the same describe-review-apply loop now powers both builders. The AI does the typing; you keep the final say on every change that lands in your draft.
You also choose which AI model does the work, from the same lineup as the main chat: OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, DeepSeek, Qwen, or local Ollama.
Your Workspace, Your Layout
The chat is a first-class panel in the builder, not a floating afterthought. Resize the split between chat, editor, and preview to fit how you work, or close the chat entirely when you want to hand-polish the code. The builder remembers your layout for next time.
Getting Started
Open the Widget Builder from the Tools section, and the AI panel is ready on the right. Start from a blank draft and describe what you want, or load one of your existing widgets and ask for an improvement. For the full story on dashboards and custom widgets, see Dashboards & Widgets.
