Skills: Save an AI Trading Strategy and Run It Again With One Click
The AI can already write and run a trading strategy for you on the spot. The obvious next question: what happens when you want to run that same strategy again tomorrow?
With Skills, the answer is simple. You save it, name it, and the AI remembers it. One click, any time.
What Is a Skill?
A Skill is a named trading routine that lives in your personal library. It is the bridge between a one-off AI conversation and a repeatable workflow.
The flow is easy:
- Describe a strategy once. Something like "scan my watchlist and flag anything with an IV rank above 40."
- The AI writes it. You review and approve it.
- Save it as a Skill and give it a name.
From that point on, your AI assistant can run it by name. No re-explaining, no re-prompting, nothing lost between sessions.
A Dedicated Place to Build Them
Skills get their own full workspace inside LamaTrader, not a cramped side panel. It gives you:
- A focused editor for writing and refining a Skill
- A preview so you can see exactly what a Skill will do before you save it
- Clear descriptions on every Skill in your library, so you can scan your collection and know what each one does at a glance
- Full ownership. Your Skills are stored in your account and stay editable at any time
The AI Knows When You Want a Strategy
You no longer have to flip a switch to tell the AI you want a strategy built. It reads your intent.
Ask for something systematic, like "scan the S&P 500 for stocks breaking above their 50-day moving average on above-average volume," and the AI recognizes it as a strategy and gets to work. Ask an analytical question, like "what's driving the semiconductor sector today," and it simply answers. The conversation flows naturally between analysis and action, with less friction and fewer wrong turns.
Building Your Skill Library
A serious trader's library might look like this:
- Monday Morning Scan checks IV rank across your watchlist and flags anything above 40
- Earnings Play finds upcoming earnings in your positions and prices the straddles
- Sector Rotation compares sector performance over the trailing 20 days and flags divergences
- Position Sizer turns a risk budget and a stop distance into the right position size for any symbol
- End-of-Day Review summarizes today's P&L, biggest movers, and open risk

Getting Started
Open Skills from the Tools section in the sidebar. Describe a simple strategy in the AI chat, and once it runs the way you want, save it as a Skill. Your library grows as your trading evolves.
